Reason for call: Ductwork quote turned into diagnostic 2 1/2 ton ox box installed two weeks ago Summary: Client said previous company recommended enlarging return ductwork. The return ductwork is a 10 inch return and a 14 inch return supplying a 2 1/2 ton unit with 1040 CFM's. 2 1/2 ton units required 850 to 1050 CFM's. The ductwork is adequate. Found a poor temperature split on the unit hooked up gauges to find the equipment was low on refrigerant. Inform the homeowner it could either be low from Install or it could have a refrigerant leak recommended adding 2 pounds of refrigerant to restore proper operation to the equipment. Homeowner said he's gonna call the other company back to see if they can cover the cost. He does plan to use this in the future
Reason for call: No cool Summary: Found no low-voltage to my condenser. Found nest thermostat dropping Y. Jumped thermostat so client had temporary cooling. He wanted to install his own nest. He went to go pick one up tonight and install it left solution for drain salt cleaning and client supplied thermostat install.
Return repair on 10" damper and motor. Completed repair and adjusted all dampers to close at setting 1 all dampers are operating properly now. Kitchen ac system: Found system had a bad capacitor and contactar, replaced components and started system. System has a 10° temperature split and is not working properly. Found system low on refrigerant and heavily dirty condenser coils. Cleaned condenser coils and added 3lbs refrigerant. Let client know the system is doing the best it can however it is not guaranteed to perform well or for much longer. System is cooling at this time with a 16-17° temperature split. East system: Client says system won’t cool. Looked at system and found system is 30 years old and in bad shape. Replacement quote accepted and system is being installed Monday.
Client states yesterday around evening they noticed the system wouldn’t come down to 74 and the condenser didn’t seem to come on. Upon arrival today, found system set to 71 and satisfied at 71. Safety float switch is dry. Client hasn’t had anyone look at the system for atleast 1 year. Temperature split is 20°. Amp draws are good. Capacitor is within range. Contactar looks good and has .2 ohm resistance. Tested drain line with water and drained out all water. Client said they reset breakers last night. I let them know not to reset breakers again if the issue arises so that we may be able to diagnose the issue while it’s happening.

Living room system down. Upon my inspection, found evaporator coils completely frozen up with thick ice. Air handler blower motor is bad. Replaced blower motor and tried to thaw out coils. Coils are taking excessively long to thaw out. Let client know to leave system off over night and start up the following day around afternoon. Client stated that system has had to have refrigerant added in the past. I explained that system may be low on refrigerant but we cannot confirm when there is ice on the coils. Also found the condenser fan motor was wired improperly which is allowing it to run 24/7. Rewired motor and now it only turns on when the system is calling for cooling. Client signed up for 3 system Maitenence plan. Will schedule with office soon to check all three systems and check pressures on the living room system.

Replaced existing thermostat with client supplied new WiFi thermostat. Found existing thermostat wire has a broken Y connection within the wall and not accessible. Replaced thermostat wire with new from thermostat to air handler. Set up thermostat and system is cooling at this time. Client is setting up their own account to connect to their thermostat via phone app.
Second opinion on system Home owner states refrigerant lines were cut to air handler. Reasoning was to remove air handler so renovations can be made. Unit has been without ac for 2 years. Explained that removing air handler would need to be performed by licensed ac contractor. Current repair would involve soldering refrigerant lines, pressure testing system, and vacuuming system. After these steps we would charge system back to factory specifications. High potential that after completing repair there could be further issues with system. System needs to be running in order to see if lines were contaminated or components have failed. Potential components that could have issues include txv, filter drier, and compressor. Investment for basic repair in order to have system running would be 1,700$. After completing repair system can be further diagnosed. System is 13 years of age and currently out of parts warranty. After completing repair we are only able to warranty workmanship
Maint plan Arrived onsite and found 7 year old system leaking refrigerant from high pressure switch. I welded leak closed and vacuumed system. Charged with 9lbs of 410a and verified system is now operating properly

System is cooling with a 20° temperature split at this time. System heating operations checked. Found growth on blower wheel and recommending cleaning/sanitation. Client would like to wait on cleaning. ** system is over sized for size of home**

Upon arrival, found AHU breaker tripped. Reset breaker, inspected wiring. Found insulation on back of AHU is peeling off. Unit has restricted air flow from dirty evaporator coils. Fan motor is at risk of failure. In heating mode this could be causing the amps to spike higher than normal and tripping the breaker. Recommending coil cleaning, fastening the insulation back to the unit. Also recommend replacing the breaker if the issue persists due to a weak breaker. Quotes sent for repairs and system replacement due to age of system. System is at risk of more failures due to age and there is no guarantee with these repairs. Verified heating and cooling work at this time.
